that is the valley grove area of santa rosa. it spread from calistoga and was riding on wind up to 60 or 70 miles per hour. i want to show you this. this is something i have never seen. let me get this for you right here as i zoom in the end. here is valley grove parkway. -- fountain grow parkway. there are many homes. this is a funnel. this is a trench or a valley or canyon that the road goes up. so last night, when these winds of 70 miles per hour blowing from the northeast. the wind will get compressed into this funnel, and it accelerates down through here. here is what i have never seen. it gets out here in the flats, and write about here is the hilton hotel, and you notice how the land spreads out? this thing comes out like a blowtorch maybe going 50 miles per hour. this is no longer rural. it is now urban. it blows across here to the coffee district and takes out all of those homes. this is an urban wildfire. i do not think i have ever seen this. this is a very unusual set of events. the winds out there right now is blowin

we will get to santa rosa and just a minute. first want to go to the developing story all weekend at the carolinas. the storm had been a hurricane, now a tropical depression. florence is still causing massive damage across north and south carolina, they're forecasting catastrophic flooding in both carolinas, at least 30 people have died, the latest were killed by breathing carbon monoxide from a generator in their home. is headed evacuated. but not in one followed evacuation orders. emergency workers spent days rescuing people who were left stranded. some of the difficult aspect some of the rescues were very difficult to get underway. military helicopters had to fly into town as you can see here. that is despite heavy rain, the wind and rain was about 25 miles an hour. we continue to track the storm from here, the biggest concern is where the rain will all end up. >>> first lauren blanchard joins us live, she is in wilmington, north carolina where there are serious concerns on the rising water levels on a major river nearby. goo
